Another happy surprise from a band called Richter hailing from Canada. I am extremely happy to see new projects growing up (see Villa Vortex), promising so much more than just a promo cd or club hit songs and fillers. Richter is a music collaboration project from 2 members Jack and Lizz Andrykew who introduce themselves to us with their first official release “Cost of Living” with 14 unique songs. And I say unique since each and every one of them goes far beyond my expectations.
The whole music is a mix of synth-pop electronic music influenced by numerous genres and bands. The whole result is familiar and keen to my ears still it manages to hold uniqueness from the first to the last track. Sure you will find electronic synths inspired from already successful bands, as well as Diary of Dreams guitar sounds, but only as a reference of what their inspirations are. Vocals are very sensitive, pationate and give a wonderful atmosphere to the whole. Only negative aspects, if one may name it “negative” are the lyrics in some cases. I don’t like when people involve music with politics especially on the song “Dirty Prophet” a fantastic track and definitely one of the cd hits.
All in all, Richter presents a very competitive album to us. For a debut released, the sound quality is quite excellent even though they will gain more credits and give a boost to their songs if a company funds the studio recordings in the near future. I can not review their artwork since what I have here is the promotional copy release.
I am expecting your new Cd in the future, well done. This is a fantastic debut release. |
