Image1.First of all I'd like to thank you for the interview! I haven't listened your new E.P. "Richfest" yet, nevertheless I'm looking forward to. Does it have the same color, atmosphere and sound with your album "Stronghold"?

Carsten: The feedback on "Stronghold" has been exceeding all the expectations we had. This applies to the DJ's and media's resonances as well as to our audience. It is a good feeling to see the press appreciating the CD and the DJs playing our songs in the clubs. This time we have tried to create an album which works in the clubs and also at home. The upcoming album sounds very compact and has a significant strength and intensity.

2.What is "Richfest" about?

Carsten: It's difficult to translate the expression RICHTFEST, 'cos we use it in a very metaphorical way, but it means as much as BLOODFEAST. The song is inspired by the terrible and shocking criminal deed of Armin Meiwes. He has confessed to murdering and eating a fellow homosexual who volunteered to be killed in one of the most bizarre ritual murders in Germany in many years. Armin Meiwes was convicted only of manslaughter and sentenced to 8 1/2 years in prison. Before the media dubbed him "The Cannibal of Rotenburg", Armin Meiwes led an outwardly quiet life, described by one woman he befriended as a friendly and sensitive person. This describtion is typical for those abnorm persons. We read a lot of biographical stuff about mass-murderers like Jack Unterweger, Jeffrey Dahmer or Fritz Haarmann and we came to the same above-mentioned result. Behind a "familiar mask" lies an unfamiliar and horrible face which is fulfilled with perversions and dark desires.

3.Do you believe that the name electrogoth is the best way to describe your group and if not how would you describe it?

Carsten: We tend to call style simply as "Electro", but we have no problems with other definitions and expressions. Everybody is welcome to listen to [:SITD:] !

4.When are you planning to release your new album?

Tom: CODED MESSAGE:12 is set to be released through ACCESSION-RECORDS in Europe and through METROPOLIS in North America on March, the 29th 2005.

5.I've read your lyrics from the album "Stronghold" (I must notice that all the songs are perfect, but my favourite is "Hurt" Who, what, which inspires your music and your lyrics?

Carsten: Thanks for that compliment. We are inspired by the diversity of the dark sides of life. We want that those strange aspects will rise to the surface.

6. Why most of the bands and artists in general are influenced by the dark side? Does this
have to do with the whole underground ideas or is it a clear commercial direction bands choose to follow nowdays? Is eventually darkness a lake of inspiration for artists?

Carsten: We can only speak for [:SITD:] and we are more interested and more inspired by such strange aspects of life. We lay our fingers into the wounds of the society. It makes no sense for us to write textures about clear seas, beautiful mountains and wonderful trees. Our themes and intentions stand in opposite to the terrible pop business.

7.What did you have in mind while composing "Hurt" ?

Carsten: HURT is about sexual abuse. It should be a glimmer of hope for the victims and the lyrics are comparing the boiling blood we feel in our veins when we think about those criminal actors.

8.What are your ideas about life? Does the kind of music you compose have to do with your lifestyle?

Carsten: [:SITD:] is a kind of therapy for us. Writings songs and textures is a survival technique in a world which is full of agony.

9.What kind of messages are you aiming to pass to the listeners through your music?

Carsten: That's different, every song gives an individual answer to that question. Listen to the music and you will find an own answer.

10.Is there any space in electronic music for romantism?

Carsten: Yes, there is, just read our lyrics to "Rose-Coloured Skies".

11.Which are your favorite artists? Furthermore, which are your favourite movies?

Tom: We like to listen to ROTERSAND, THE RETROSIC and stuff like that. A favourite movie are "SEVEN", "SILENCE OF THE LAMBS" and actually "THE SAW".

12.If you had a time machine where would you like to go and why?

Tom: We won't miss the advantages of modern technologies, consequently there is just one possible answer to your question: Here and now !

13.How old are you, did you used to do anything else in your life before sitd? Is the band your Full time job?

Tom: We both were born 1972. We did normal jobs or went to university. Actually, there's no more time left to do other jobs or study. The band is our priority. But we don't want to exclude the possibility to return to our occupation or studies in case of having more time in the future.

14.Are you planning for some live shows in order to promote your new release?
[:SITD:]

Tom: We will go on the CODED MESSAGE: TOUR with the special guest GRENDEL from Holland. All confirmed tourdates can be found under www.sitd.de.

15.Do you experiment with music on stage or the songs you present are same with the ones on cd (aka playback music)?

Tom: We love to play live and we have rearranged a lot of tracks for our shows. We guess, that is an interesting aspect for the audience.

16.And the most importing question! Are you planning to come in Greece and if your answer it is yes, when?

Carsten: We'd like to come to Greece to perform live, if there is a reasonable opportunity to do that. Clubs and promoters are always invited to contact our booking agency www.project-music.de.

17.Thank you very much! We are lookink forward to listening you!

Carsten: Thanks for the interesting interview and best wishes to you and all friends in Greece !
